BLUE BLOOD by Melissa De La Cruz

Blue blood is a vampire fantasy series for young adults that are focused on 12-15 years old. This was set in Manhattan, and this book is about rich upper class teenagers who happen to turn into vampires. My first impression of this book was mixed. It was just like twilight yet still has fashion sense into it just like gossip girl; this was a very creative vampire story. This book was written in third person and I found it hard to connect with the characters. They lived their lives of smoking, under aged drinking and such, which I think can relate to young teenagers in today’s life.

The books mostly focused on the adventures of vampires in their 15 to 21 years of age, when they first start to shed their human selves for vampire ones and learn about their heritage when they get invited to join what they think is the best group called "the committee" but which is actually restricted only to vampires.

I like this book because there is an air of dark mystery and untold secrets around the story and this plot is perhaps the main thing that keeps the story driving forward. The plot slowly unravels a threat to the Blue Bloods existence as well as a surprising secret about Schuyler – this book kept me interested to the end of the story. Even though the characters in Blue Bloods are only not very engaging, the plot and vampire legends carry the story well enough to make this a very readable book. There are also enough loose ends to make me want to follow up this story with the next chapter in this series.

This book is not about the creation and continuing history of vampires but its more on the romantic relationship between couples. This book has a story, substance and depth which makes it a very good book to read. This book makes readers asks questions that could only be answered after reading further on. This book has created something more than just a vampire world, something different from others.

I would rate this book 9 out of 1O because this book is a very exciting book to read and it’s also a book where it leaves questions for the readers after each chapter. This book is very engaging especially for those young people who love to read about vampires and young love. It’s a very entertaining book and you will LOVE it.

M&M popcorn ad

The M&M popcorn advertisement is focused on twelve year olds. It is advertising M&M's and the different colours they have and how it's suitable for every event, even a family event. On the 13th of September, this ad was found on Youtube as I searched for M&M - Popcorn. The ad was released on June 19, 2010.

The purpose of this ad is to sell M&M's and get all the kids and teenagers to buy the product. It is to encourage kids’ attention to buy M&M’s and to show them that M&M is suitable for any event and tastes better than any snacks. But the main purpose of this ad is to sell their brand name to kids, especially aged 1O-15. The more kids and teenagers buy M&M’s the bigger product it’ll become. It is also to show that M&M’s also has promotions for lucky buyers who might win a movie tickets.

This ad started off with a family who looked bored watching TV with popcorn as their snack. Then come along the mother who brought them M&M’s for the rest of the family to add to their snacks. Then the kids in the ad looked very excited.

One of the M&M figure put on a DVD for family entertainment and made the whole family happy and kept them entertained again.

The target audiences in this add would be young adults particularly 1O-2 years old. An old grandma would not likely to buy this product. This product is more likely to be bought by kids, teenagers or young adults because people their age like sugars, chocolates and candies.

There are not much written techniques in this add. The only written technique that was used was at the end of the ad which says “COLLECT 8 POUCH TOPS. GET 2 FREE MOVIE TICKETS”.

The visual techniques that are used in this ad are very successful because they had the M&M figures and also the popcorn figures not just the actual snack and this is to show the comparison between M&M’s and popcorn. This is set in the living room whilst they’re watching a movie because this ad is trying to promote free movie tickets that the buyers can win. After the mum brings in a bowl of M&M, the popcorn gets abandoned and this shows that M&M’s better to nibble during any event, especially during movies.

The sound/ voice techniques that are used in this ad are the different sound that they had when watching two different movies, the laughter, the talking, and also the popcorn noise when it popped. This helps a lot with the visual techniques because we can relate to this ad much better. Especially 12 year olds who loves watching movies and M&M’s.

M&M popcorn is a successful ad because it gives the audience excitement and it grabs their attention to the snacks. The sound effects and the visual techniques worked well together to accomplish its purpose which was to sell the product to 12 year olds. The way they have put this ad together is very good because it has humor and good sound effects and good visual techniques, etc. I rate this ad 8 out of 1O. this ad engage the audience to buy M&Ms because of the free movie tickets that they might win.
